Clean Water Act / Wetland Permitting

ENTRIX has extensive expertise with provisions under the Clean Water Act (CWA) and is experienced guiding clients through the federal, state and local compliance complexities related to wetland permitting. Our professionals routinely provide federal and state level consultation involving CWA Section 404 (wetland impacts) and Section 401 (water quality impacts).  We have Professional Wetland Scientists and ecologists available nationwide with local, hands-on expertise in specialized services like delineation, mitigation, wetland design and buffers, and riparian environments.

The regulatory framework also requires a deep understanding of impaired waters classifications, pollutant loads, and the total maximum daily load (TMDL) program—areas in which ENTRIX is technically trained.  We advise on CWA Section 303(d) list of impaired waters, Section 305(b) national water quality inventory report, and Section 402 National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permitting.

Another key provision, and one making recent headlines, is CWA Section 316(b) which regulates cooling water intake and discharge impacts to aquatic life—specifically fish populations.  Our multi-disciplinary team of experts is adept at field sampling, data analysis, ecological modeling, resource economics, and compliance document preparation—critical to addressing the impacts of impingement and entrainment. ENTRIX consultants can work with clients independently or partner with their engineering consultants to identify cost-effective solutions for real world water use problems.
