Fisheries and Aquatic Ecology
As the demand for clean freshwater increases, the world faces a growing shortage of supply. Conflicts over the need to supply water to the public while protecting natural aquatic resources are both complex and time-sensitive. Complicating the situation, many species dependent upon aquatic habitats are in decline or have been listed under Endangered Species statutes. Solutions therefore require a blend of scientific expertise, creative thinking, experience with federal and state regulatory requirements as well as an understanding and appreciation for societal and environmental needs.
ENTRIX has a long history and proven record of resolving a comprehensive range of fisheries and aquatic resource issues. We have a multidisciplinary team including many PhD-level aquatic ecologists, hydrologists, geomorphologists, water quality specialists, engineers, regulatory specialists, and former state and federal fisheries managers. Our project work spans water districts, government entities, utilities, hydroelectric power generators, natural resource agencies, American Indian Tribes, and industry clients. We mange both small-scale projects requiring a simple cost-effective approach and very complex, multi-year engagements such as the implementation of sophisticated industrial and energy infrastructure.
Much of our work is done in close collaboration with regulatory and resource agencies as well as public stakeholders, often with opposing interests. ENTRIX is skilled in developing innovative alternatives that balance our clients’ business objectives and budgets with rigorous environmental agency requirements.
